Persons wishing to address council on a topic may do so by making an appointment with the Administrator no less than one week in advance of a meeting, and shall disclose at least one week prior to the meeting the topic which the person wishes to address. The Reeve, Administrator and Council have the right to accept or reject anyone applying to address a council meeting.
Delegates must submit a statement, in writing, of the subject the delegation wishes to place before council. Delegations are allotted 15 minutes for their presentation, but they shall be permitted a reasonable time to reply to any questions or concerns following the presentation. All persons have a right to be present at council meetings and council committee meetings that are conducted in public, unless an individual has been expelled for improper conduct by the person presiding at the meeting. No request is required to attend and observe. However, no participation is allowed. Council and council committees may close all or a part of their meetings to the public if the matter to be discussed with within one of the exemptions in Part III of The Local Authority Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In order to put something before council you must come as a delegate.
